My Makeup Bag Essentials

I absolutely love doing my makeup and skincare routines. I may not be very good at doing my makeup, but I find it so soothing and it makes me feel so much more confident.

I’ve tried a LOT of different products over the years, so to help you find your holy grails I’m going to share my makeup bag staples.

I rarely leave the house without my brows done and some mascara, so it’s super important to me that both are waterproof – especially on 12 hour hospital shifts! My go-to brow product is NYX Cosmetic’s brow pomade. It’s a great dupe for the Anastasia Beverly Hills pomade, at half the price. It’s easy to work with, and there’s a huge shade range to suit everyone.

For mascara, my holy-grail product is Sport FX’s “Game Changer” waterproof mascara. It provides amazing volume and lift, while also being hands down the best waterproof mascara I have ever tried. I’ve worn it on ambulance shifts in winter, 12 hour hospital shifts in the summer, and while walking the dog in the pouring rain. It. Does. Not. Shift.

The best part of Sport FX’s mascara? It’s dual ended, with end being the mascara and the other being the mascara remover. Absolute game changer.

I am really pale with cool undertones, so until recently I had an absolute nightmare finding a foundation that matched my neck and did not turn orange after a few hours. I always seemed to be in between the lightest and second lightest shades in high-end foundation ranges, and paler than the lightest shades in drugstore lines. However, I have been absolutely loving Huda Beauty’s #FauxFilter foundation. It’s a full coverage foundation, but it’s easily blendable and lasts a super long time. I usually pair it with Smashbox’s Photo Finish Primer and Urban Decay’s All Nighter setting spray, which definitely gives it some staying power!

To finish off my look, I swing between Huda Beauty’s liquid matte lipsticks (the only nudes which suit my skintone, I swear), and Charlotte Tilbury’s lipsticks. Both are a little pricey, but I swear by them. For summer looks, I love to layer some vaseline over the Huda mattes, to give them a little shine and to nourish my lips while also maintaining the nude colours that really work for me.

For my eyes, my go-to palette is Beauty Bay’s EYN Fiery palette. It’s a 15 pan palette with a fantastic mix of mattes and shimmers, perfect for an all-in-one palette look! I absolutely love the formula of Beauty Bay’s eyeshadows, they’re really pigmented but also very workable.

For highlighters, I usually go for an Anastasia Beverly Hills palette. I reach for the Sugar Glow kit, but I do lean more towards the Sun Dipped palette in summer.

What are your holy grail beauty products? Let me know in the comments!

Until next time,

Dani x
